Five Facts About The Boston Celtics

So you want to know five facts about the Boston Celtics? Then read on my friends.

1. In game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Finals Bill Laimbeer kept elbowing Robert Parish. Parish responded by punching Laimbeer in the face 3 times. The referee didn't see him punching Laimbeer, but later the league suspended Parish for one game. (Source: You can watch the punching here)

2.
After the 1966 championship Bill Russell took over as the player-coach. He was the first African American Coach in any sport with this appointment. (Source)

3. Scott Wedman in Game 1 of the 1985 series finals for the Celtics shot 11 shots (with 4 of them being 3 pointers), but went on to lose the title later in the series. (Source Here)

4. The first team to lose against the Boston Celtics was the Toronto Huskies on November 16, 1946. The score was 53-49 to make the celtics first season 1-5. (Source. Open gamelog to see.)

5. In 1946, 264 5-foot square panels were bought for $11,000 to make up the court for the Celtics team in the Boston Garden. (Source + more in depth info on the floor.)

Five random facts later and now you are smarter on your Boston Celtics knowledge. Hopefully you learned something new! If you would like for me to do more of these; for any team, or more for the Celtics, let me know!

The NBA champion from the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade said on his twitter page on Monday July 9th, 2012 that he is "doing fine."

He decided to have the knee surgery early in the off season to hopefully be ready to begin the season on time and in shape. He is expected to be fully recovered in eight weeks.

Wade played all of the 23 playoff games with the Heat with the knee problems. During the second round series with the Pacers he had treatment several days through the week to keep him on the court.

Steve Nash To Play For Miami Heat?

Image provided by espn.go.com

One of the top free agents this summer, Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, made a lot of talk around the league after saying in a radio interview on Thursday March 29th, 2012 that he could consider joining the Miami Heat.

"I'm not coming back to the Suns if there isn't improvement," Nash told "The Dan Patrick Show".

Nash expects the Sums to try to make these improvements, but he is looking forward to being a free agent and deciding where to continue his career, The hypothetical question of LeBron James asking Steve Nash to join up with the Miami Heat for one last push at a championship was brought up.
"I would listen," Nash said. "He's phenomenal. I love what they're doing there. A lot of people don't like them because they put all that talent there. But they're professional, they play hard, they play together. Their coaching staff has done a great job, so I have a tremendous amount of respect for them.
"I would definitely listen."

The 38-year-old point guard without a world championship is probably quite fond of the idea to join a contender that has a need for a point guard.

If Nash was to join the Heat, this would mean he would be passing up millions of dollars. The Heat won't have any salary cap space next summer, so Steve Nash would have to settle for the mid-level exception if he wanted the join the Miami Heat club.

With earning over 120 million in his career, I'm sure passing up a few million will not affect him, and he would be willing to sacrifice it for a shot at the championship.

The 38-year-old Nash is averaging 12 points and 11 assists with a true shooting percentage (which incorporates 2-point shots, 3-point shots and free throw percentage together) of 62.7.

Do you think Nash should stay with the Suns, or go to the Miami Heat? Or should he consider another team entirely? Leave us a comment below to let us know!

Rudy Fernandez has successful back surgery

Thanks to espn.go.com for the image.

Guard Rudy Fernandez has had what the team said to be a successful back surgery on Thursday March 29th, 2012.

The Nuggets are expected to miss him for the remainder of the regular season but might be back for the playoffs. He has missed twelve games with a lower back strain, and the game against Dallas on March 19th it flared up, prompting for further evaluation on it.

He averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.03 steals in 31 games for Denver.

I wish him a speed recovery and hope that he can be back in time for the playoffs and play without pain. We all know he doesn't want to be without his team for the playoffs, and his team doesn't want to be without him. He's not a huge player, but he is a key, so best of luck to him and the Denver Nuggets.

Amare Stoudemire Out 2-4 Weeks With Back Injury

Thanks to espn.go.com for the image.

New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire will miss as much as four weeks of play because of a back injury, the NBA team said Wednesday March 28th, 2012.

Stoudemire left Sunday's game with tightening in his back and was diagnosed Monday as having a bulging disk.

He will not be having surgery, he will be going through non-surgical treatments.

He is the second highest scorer on the Knicks basketball club and it's going to be a hard 2-4 weeks without Stoudemire. Carmelo Anthony is already out for a groin injury, and point guard Jeremy Lin is out with a knee injury.

With the season only around four weeks left I see this being really hard without him. Injuries are really hurting nearly every team in the league, this condensed schedule is to blame according to many players. Hopefully Amare will be ready for the playoffs.

Glen Davis Gives The Finger And Gets Fined

Thanks to espn.go.com for the image.

Davis was fined $35,000 for an obscene gesture, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

Davis who had some blood on his fingertips, looked at a fan and extended his right middle finger. He then put it into his mouth and licked off the blood.

According to nba.com "The incident occurred with 7:49 remaining in the second quarter of the Magic's 117-101 win over the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre on March 26."

I just can't even understand this, why would he lick the blood of his finger, and do this in front of many kids, and....I don't even know. He seems a tad odd certainly, $35,000 seems like it is justice to me.

What do you think? Should he of been served an suspension as they expected or is the fine justice enough? Tell me in the comments below!

Rip Hamilton To Maybe Play Wednesday Night?

Thanks to espn.go.com for providing the image.

Will Hamilton be playing Wednesday March 28th, 2012 against the Atlanta Hawks? We don't know, but what we do know is that he is close. His statement on playing tonight "We'll see."

He also said "We'll see how it goes today because today was actually the first time I did a little bumping, that's what me and Scal were doing. Him chasing me and bumping and having a little contact and stuff like that. It was good, man, because that's the biggest thing with me getting hit just now, the contact."

Coach Tom Thibodeau was hopeful to it, and said "Game-time decision. Doing more and more. He's very close. I'm not sure on (a time limit) yet. His legs are great, so he's over all those injuries and then it's just we want to make sure the strength is there in the shoulder and all that. We're very encouraged, he's doing great right now."

I hope to see his injuries clear up, he has been out for a lot of the season. The bulls need him healthy, and I hope that he doesn't try to rush in and re-aggravate it and be out even longer. He is a big part of this Chicago team, so I hope he gets in and does well.

Do you think he should come in tonight or wait a bit longer? Leave us a comment below!
